Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!  I am so excited about seeing familiar faces and getting to know the new families this month.  It's hard to believe that the summer is moving so quickly. 

This year we have several new faces to add to our elementary staff.  We welcome Jessica Williams and Pam Harler to our Kindergarten Team.  Our First Grade  Team welcomes Sarah Naegele, Shannon Heinzen and Taylor Klehm.   Second Grade Team welcomes some staff changes within other grade levels; D'Lynn Brown and Lacy Jahns will join them this year. We are excited to have  Coco Perry join our support staff for student services.  Coco will be our new counselor.  We will have a new PE teacher.  Coach Jared Cruddas will be working with the students in physical fitness and health.  I am excited about adding art to our daily schedule.  Erin Oldham will teach art for us at the elementary school.

We are moving to a new website later this month.  We hope it will be informative and easy to navigate.  A monthly calendar of activities will be sent home as well as updated on the website  to give you school events.

New School Hours:
School begins at 7:55 and is dismissed at 3:25.
(10 minutes longer than last year)

Morning PK hours: 7:55-10:55

Afternoon PK hours: 12:25-3:25

Just a few reminders as we begin the school year:

Breakfast is offered for grades PK-2 from 7:25-7:50  Students need to go to their designated grade level area first and report to the teacher. 
Mrs. Murray will take the students to breakfast and offer assistance if needed.  Students will be brought back to the building at 7:50 to walk with their classmates to the classroom.

All students need to arrive by 7:50 so they can walk to class with their friends and get settled in for the day.  If students come before their class has been dismissed we have designated areas for them to attend.  Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten age will meet in the elementary library.  First and second grades will meet in the Media Room.  (Parents will not be permitted in the hallways after the first week of school.  We are implementing safety features. Adults in the building might be able to remove children and put them in a harmful situation. We want to keep all our children safe.  If you wish to speak to the teacher you may contact her for an appointment or send a note with your child)

Parents may attend lunch with their child.  Seating is limited due to our enrollment.  Come 10 minutes before your child's lunch time to check in at the office.

We dismiss at 3:25.  Parents may use the circle drive for easy pick up.  If this is selected you must stay in your car and our staff will bring your child to you.  Parents wishing to get out and meet the child at the end of the day need to park at the Intermediate School Campus parking lot and walk over to our school entrance.  Parents may not go to the classrooms to pick up children.  Children must notify the staff at the front porch before leaving with a parent. 

Students must wear tennis shoes during the day.  Tennis shoes should be secure fitting to provide safety for the child.
All visitors during the day must report to the elementary office and follow procedures for making a visitor badge.  Your drivers license will be required.

The District Student Handbook will be published on the web site.  Each grade level will provide more specific information in a campus handbook the first week of school.
